About this experience
Experience the authentic spirit of Route 66 with Desert Wonder Adventures as we guide you on a spectacular journey through Valentine, Arizona, and onward to the world-famous Grand Canyon Caverns near Peach Springs. This unforgettable adventure combines historic ghost town exploration with one of the Southwest's most remarkable underground experiences, traveling 87 miles of the longest remaining stretch of original Route 66 in America.
Descend 200 feet underground via elevator into the largest dry caverns in the United States, formed over 65 million years ago when an ancient inland sea covered this desert landscape. Explore paved walkways through massive chambers, including the famous Chapel of the Ages, and witness prehistoric fossils, such as a mummified ground sloth and a 19th-century bobcat. Discover the caverns' distinctive role as a Cold War fallout shelter.
